A specialist legal practice sat on a dated, sluggish website. We rebuilt it from the ground up as hand-written static HTML — no WordPress, no plugin stack, nothing to patch on a Tuesday night — and built a custom Easy CRM behind it so enquiries and content are handled without anyone wrestling an inbox.
The rebuilt site is in final checks and goes live this week. Further sites for the same client are being built on the same template.

The brief
A law firm shouldn't be worrying about plugin updates.
Park Homes Law advises people on a genuinely niche and often stressful area of law. Their clients arrive worried, looking for reassurance and a clear route to getting help. The old site didn't do much to provide either — it was slow, dated, awkward on a phone, and every content change meant asking someone else to do it.
Behind the scenes it was worse. Enquiries arrived as plain emails into a shared inbox, where they were sorted by hand, occasionally missed, and impossible to report on. Nobody could answer "how many enquiries did we get last month, and what happened to them?" without scrolling.
The brief was simple: a site that looks the part and loads instantly, no maintenance overhead, and a way to actually manage enquiries and content without needing a developer on standby.
So we didn't rebuild it in WordPress. We built the site as static HTML — the fastest, most secure thing you can put on a server — and put a purpose-built system next to it to handle the parts that genuinely need software.
Why static HTML
The fastest website is the one that isn't thinking when you ask for it.
A WordPress page is assembled on demand — PHP runs, a database is queried, a dozen plugins get a say, and only then does anything reach the visitor. A static page is already finished. The server just hands it over.
Typical WordPress site
Before
Every page built on the fly — PHP, database queries, plugin overhead on each visit
Core, theme and plugin vulnerabilities need constant patching
A plugin update can break the layout without warning
Login page is a permanent target for automated attacks
Needs more server resource to stay quick under load
Park Homes Law now
After
Pages are pre-built files — served straight from disk and cached at the edge
No database and no plugins, so there's very little left to attack
Nothing auto-updates itself into a broken state overnight
No public admin login sat on the front door
Cheap to run and stays fast under traffic spikes
How it was built
AI-assisted development
Agency-quality output, without the agency timeline.
Hand-writing a full static site used to be the expensive option — every page individually built, every component crafted. That's exactly the kind of work AI is good at accelerating, and it's how we could offer a bespoke build at a price that made sense for a small practice.
AI handled the repetitive weight: generating consistent page structures, writing the boilerplate, converting the old content across, and drafting the CRM's plumbing. We did the parts that need judgement — the design decisions, the copy that has to sound like a law firm, the security review, and the testing.
The result is a site that's genuinely bespoke rather than a template with a logo dropped in — and it was delivered in a fraction of the time a traditional build would have taken.
01Audit the old siteExisting content and structure mapped, dead weight and duplicate pages stripped out.
02Design the new structureLayouts and components designed around how a worried client actually reads a legal site.
03AI-accelerated buildPages, components and CRM scaffolding generated fast, then reviewed and corrected by hand.
04Review, test, launchCross-device testing, form and delivery checks, then a staged go-live on Zenlabra hosting.
The Easy CRM
The bit that does the actual work.
The website is deliberately dumb — it's just fast pages. Everything that needs to think happens in the Easy CRM: a small, purpose-built system that only does what this practice needs it to do, and nothing else.
Feature 01 · Enquiries
Every enquiry captured, sorted and acknowledged.
Enquiries from the website land straight in the CRM rather than a shared inbox. Each one is captured with everything the practice needs to act on it, and the sender gets an immediate acknowledgement — so nobody's left wondering whether their message went anywhere.
They're then triaged automatically: sorted by the type of matter and how urgent it looks, and flagged accordingly. Urgent things surface at the top instead of sitting nineteen emails down. Nothing quietly gets lost.
And because it's all in one place, the obvious questions finally have answers — how many enquiries came in, what kind, how quickly they were dealt with, and what's still open.
The obvious objection to a static site is "but how do we change anything?" — so we solved that first. The CRM includes a straightforward editor for writing articles and amending page content, with no HTML, no page builder, and nothing that can break the layout.
There's a feedback loop built in: a draft can be sent for review, comments left against it, changes made and then approved before it appears publicly. For a legal practice — where wording genuinely matters and someone senior needs to sign it off — that review step isn't a nice-to-have.
Once approved, the change publishes to the live static site. The team gets the convenience of a CMS; visitors still get a plain, fast page.

Technical detail
What's actually under it
01
Hand-built static HTML & CSS
No CMS, no framework runtime, no build-time surprises. Pages are plain HTML and CSS with a small amount of JavaScript only where it earns its place — which means there's essentially nothing to go wrong between the server and the visitor.
02
UK hosting with Cloudflare and SSL
Hosted on Zenlabra's UK infrastructure with Cloudflare handling DNS, HTTPS and edge caching. Static assets are cached close to the visitor, so pages arrive quickly regardless of where they're browsing from.
03
Custom Easy CRM
A purpose-built system for enquiry capture, automatic triage, article and page editing, and a draft-to-approval review flow. Built for this practice's process rather than configured around someone else's assumptions about how a law firm works.
04
Reliable enquiry delivery
Forms are wired for proper delivery with confirmations to both the practice and the enquirer, and delivery is checked as part of our ongoing maintenance — because an enquiry form that silently fails is worse than not having one.
05
Reusable component template
The whole build is componentised, so additional sites for the same client start from a proven foundation rather than a blank page. Consistent look, consistent behaviour, and a much shorter path to each new launch.
06
Ongoing management by Zenlabra
Hosting, uptime monitoring, backups, SSL renewal and the CRM itself all sit with us. There's no plugin update queue to work through — which is rather the point of building it this way.
What's next
One build, several sites
The rebuilt site is in final checks and goes live this week. Because it was built as a set of reusable components rather than a one-off, the same client has further sites on the way using the same template — each one styled for its own purpose, all sharing the same fast, low-maintenance foundation and the same Easy CRM behind them. Build it properly once, and the second one costs a fraction of the first.
